WebNot so familiar with I-VI (have only beaten them once) but between VII-XII, XII is by far the longest if you wanna tackle all Espers and Yiazmat. So I think VII is the fastest. I have recently beaten the game including all final weapons, Limits and superbosses in less then 40 hours. My last run of IX was around 70 hours.
