Foki restriction enzyme
WebBacteria have restriction enzymes, also called restriction endonucleases, which cleave double stranded DNA at specific points into fragments, which are then degraded further by other endonucleases. This prevents infection by effectively destroying the foreign DNA introduced by an infectious agent (such as a bacteriophage ).

WebSerum vitamin D levels were estimated by enzyme linked immunosorbant assay. VDR gene polymorphisms (FokI, TaqI, and BsmI) were analyzed by polymerase chain reaction restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method. Results: About 80.6% cases were found to be vitamin D deficient. WebRestriction enzymes are traditionally classified into four types on the basis of subunit composition, cleavage position, sequence specificity and cofactor requirements. However, amino acid sequencing has uncovered extraordinary variety among restriction enzymes and revealed that at the molecular level, there are many more than four different types.
